Short on time? Here's the essentials:

Rick and Morty follows the misadventures of Rick Sanchez, a brilliant but nihilistic scientist, and his anxious grandson, Morty Smith. Rick drags Morty on dangerous interdimensional and intergalactic journeys, often for his own selfish or scientific pursuits, while Morty grapples with the moral implications and sheer terror of their escapades.

This season, Rick and Morty face numerous threats. They get caught in a galactic snake war, leading to a time-traveling conflict that results in the erasure of snake civilization. Later, Morty's desire for a specific future leads to Rick's death and a violent spree, though Rick ultimately survives. A major twist reveals that Rick cloned Beth and erased his memory of which Beth is the clone, leading to both Beths confronting Rick.

The season concludes with both Beths uniting against Rick, realizing his manipulative nature. Rick is left to contemplate his actions, while Morty and Summer deal with the fallout of a divine intervention.

Season 4 of Rick and Morty covers episodes 1-10. Here's everything that happened:

Season 4, Episode 1: Edge of Tomorty: Rick, Die, Rickpeat - Morty, guided by death crystals predicting his future, becomes obsessed with dying old with Jessica. This leads him to cause Rick's death and embark on a violent spree. Meanwhile, Rick repeatedly dies and revives across fascist realities. The episode concludes with Morty realizing his desired future was a misinterpretation, and Rick, having survived, is ready for another adventure.

Season 4, Episode 2: The Old Man and the Seat - Rick seeks solitude for a private bathroom break on a pristine planet, only to discover an intruder, Tony. Meanwhile, Jerry develops a hyper-addictive dating app called Lovefinderrz with Rick's intern, Glootie, causing global chaos. Rick's pursuit of Tony leads to a confrontation where Tony dies of cancer, and Rick is left contemplating his own loneliness. The app is eventually rendered useless by an ad wall, but not before causing widespread relationship breakdowns.

Season 4, Episode 3: One Crew Over the Crewcoo's Morty - After Rick's treasure hunt is upstaged by heist artist Miles Knightly, Rick assembles a crew to infiltrate Heist-Con. He then uses a robot, Heist-o-Tron, to out-heist Knightly, leading to Miles Knightly's death when Heist-o-Tron hypnotizes the crowd to steal everything. Rick's ultimate plan is revealed to be sabotaging Morty's interest in writing heist movies, ensuring they continue their adventures together, which is Morty's disillusionment with heists.

Season 4, Episode 4: Claw and Hoarder: Special Ricktim's Morty - After Rick reluctantly agrees to get Morty a dragon, they become soul-bonded to it and a wizard. They team up with "slut dragons" to kill the wizard, freeing all dragons and breaking the soul bond. Meanwhile, Jerry befriends a talking cat that leads him on a bizarre trip to Florida. Rick eventually scans the cat's mind, discovering a horrifying truth, and erases Jerry's memory of the ordeal.

Season 4, Episode 5: Rattlestar Ricklactica - Rick and Morty get caught in a galactic snake war after Morty kills a snake astronaut. Rick's solution involves giving the snakes time travel, leading to a Terminator-esque conflict across history. Ultimately, Rick and Morty travel back to kill the first snake to use tools, erasing snake civilization and resolving the war. Jerry's subplot involves him becoming neutrally buoyant to hang Christmas lights.

Season 4, Episode 6: Never Ricking Morty - Rick and Morty find themselves trapped on a literal "Story Train," an anthology device created by the Story Lord. After navigating various meta-narratives and potential futures, including a confrontation with Evil Morty leading an army of Ricks, they escape by invoking Jesus Christ. The episode concludes with the revelation that the entire experience was a toy train set purchased by Morty, with Rick expressing pride in his grandson's consumerism.

Season 4, Episode 7: Promortyus - Rick and Morty are mind-controlled by face-hugging aliens called Glorzo. After escaping and causing mass destruction to the Glorzo civilization, they discover they left Summer behind. Upon returning, they find Summer has become a goddess to the aliens. The episode concludes with Rick and Morty returning home, realizing they haven't evolved, and ending on a crude joke.

Season 4, Episode 8: The Vat of Acid Episode - Morty, frustrated with Rick's dismissiveness, gets a "save point" device. He uses it extensively, leading to a relationship and a plane crash. Rick reveals the device actually teleports Morty to alternate realities, killing the native Morty each time. To escape consequences, Morty must jump into a fake vat of acid, proving Rick's point about consequences.

Season 4, Episode 9: Childrick of Mort - Rick's ex, Gaia, reveals she's pregnant with his children. Rick and Beth create a society for the offspring, but Reggie, a vengeful god, arrives claiming to be the true father and is killed by Morty and Summer. Gaia erupts, destroying the city, and the family escapes, with Jerry earning unexpected respect.

Season 4, Episode 10: Star Mort Rickturn of the Jerri - The episode reveals Rick cloned Beth and erased his memory of which Beth is the clone, leaving both Beths uncertain of their true identity. After a battle against the New Galactic Federation and a revived Phoenixperson, both Beths decide to team up against Rick, realizing he's a terrible father. The season concludes with Rick contemplating his actions.
