The season's central conflict revolves around the characters' attempts to rebuild their lives amidst ongoing challenges. Piper faces probation issues and personal growth, while Alex deals with prison politics and smuggling operations. Maritza is deported to Colombia, a country she barely knows, and Pennsatucky overdoses and dies after struggling with her GED exam. Red is diagnosed with dementia, a devastating blow to her friends.

The season concludes with significant shifts. Piper moves to Ohio to be closer to Alex, and Blanca is reunited with her loved one. Taystee, finding a new purpose, begins a financial literacy program within the prison walls.

Season 7, Episode 1: Beginning of the End - Piper struggles with post-prison life, facing curfews and financial strain. Alex promises to stay clean inside. Daya, angered by Daddy's infidelity, laces hooch with fentanyl, leading to Daddy's accidental overdose and death. Alex is forced to swallow a condom full of crack by Hellman. Piper visits Alex, exhausted by their circumstances.


Season 7, Episode 2: Just Desserts - Piper struggles with post-prison life, attending a mommy-and-me group. Daya asserts dominance in prison after Daddy's OD death. Maritza violates parole and is caught in an ICE raid. Tamika surprisingly becomes the new warden.


Season 7, Episode 3: And Brown is the New Orange - Tamika makes changes as the new warden, closing the SHU and transferring Badison. Maritza and Blanca reunite in the ICE detention center, where Maritza struggles to prove her citizenship. Alex and McCullough begin a smuggling operation involving phone chargers. The episode ends with Tamika asserting her authority and Blanca's partner being caught up in the ICE process.


Season 7, Episode 4: How to Do Life - Piper navigates her new job, facing post-prison challenges. Lorna learns of Sterling's death and retreats into denial, creating a fake social media profile for him. Taystee, overwhelmed by her life sentence, attempts suicide but ultimately survives. The episode concludes with Cindy's voiceover about finding strength in the face of injustice.


Season 7, Episode 5: Minority Deport - Aleida's attempts to control her daughter backfire, leading to her re-arrest. Piper's irresponsibility jeopardizes her probation. Blanca gains legal knowledge, while Maritza is deported to Colombia, a country she doesn't know, after sharing a lawyer's number.


Season 7, Episode 6: Trapped in an Elevator - Cindy gets early release, grappling with guilt over Taystee's fate. Caputo runs a restorative justice class, prompting inmates to confront their pasts. Flashbacks reveal Maria's arrest for selling counterfeit items. Cindy apologizes to her mother, while Maria seeks amends with Yadriel regarding their daughter. Season 7, Episode 7: Me as Well - Piper explores her sexuality post-prison, struggling to find satisfaction. Blanca navigates ICE detention with Karla's help. Caputo faces the fallout from a #MeToo accusation. Pennsatucky excels in her GED class but struggles with test anxiety. Daya tasks Taystee with a mission. The episode concludes with Red's declining mental state becoming more apparent.


Season 7, Episode 8: Baker's Dozen - Piper attends a wilderness retreat and bonds with a new friend. Taystee tutors Pennsatucky for her GED. Aleida returns to prison and tries to assert dominance over Daya's drug operation. Nicky discovers Red's memory is failing when she realizes Red has sent the same letter before. The episode concludes with Nicky urging Red to see a doctor.


Season 7, Episode 9: The Hidey Hole - Lorna's denial about her baby's death intensifies, leading to a divorce suggestion from Vinny and a dissociative episode where she goes missing. Cindy's attempt to reintegrate is shattered when her daughter learns the truth about their relationship. Piper comes out as a felon at work. The episode concludes with Lorna's disappearance triggering a prison lockdown.


Season 7, Episode 10: The Thirteenth - Piper reconnects with her past, meeting up with Larry and Polly, while Alex is consumed by jealousy over Piper's new friend. Red receives a dementia diagnosis, devastating Nicky. Lorna, in denial about her baby's death, is found in the chicken coop and tasered. Caputo resigns after revealing his past with Fischer. The episode closes with several inmates sharing their inner thoughts.


Season 7, Episode 11: God Bless America - Karla's appeal is denied, leading to her deportation to Honduras. Blanca manages to secure a continuance. Nicky learns of Sterling's death and tries supporting Lorna. Piper sleeps with Zelda after McCullough reveals her affair with Alex, leading to Piper and Alex's potential breakup.


Season 7, Episode 12: The Big House - Taystee's hopes for appeal are dashed, leading her to consider suicide until a flashback with Poussey encourages her. Pennsatucky, distraught over her GED exam, overdoses and dies. Alex is transferred to Ohio after McCullough reveals Piper's new relationship. Gloria confesses to owning the illegal phone to protect others. The episode concludes with Taystee discovering Pennsatucky's body.


Season 7, Episode 13: Here's Where We Get Off - The series concludes with tearful goodbyes and new beginnings for the Litchfield inmates. Pennsatucky's overdose is discovered, and Taystee learns that Pennsatucky passed her GED. Piper moves to Ohio to be closer to Alex, while Blanca is reunited with Diablo. The episode ends with Taystee starting a financial literacy program in prison.
