Short on time? Here's the essentials:

"Justified" Season 5 plunges U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant) into a new conflict with the dangerous Crowe family, a clan of Florida criminals led by the manipulative Daryl Crowe Jr. (Michael Rapaport), who relocate to Harlan. Simultaneously, charismatic outlaw Boyd Crowder (Walton Goggins) desperately works to free his fiancée, Ava Crowder (Joelle Carter), from prison after she is incarcerated for murder. Ava struggles to survive the brutal realities of prison life, while Boyd navigates treacherous drug deals and betrayals to secure her release and rebuild his criminal empire.

Raylan's investigation into the Crowes escalates as Dilly Crowe kills a Coast Guard officer and is then killed by his own brother. Boyd faces numerous challenges, including a hijacked drug shipment and the betrayal of his cousin, Johnny Crowder (David Meunier). He retaliates by orchestrating Lee Paxton's forced suicide (Sam Anderson), a powerful funeral home director who tried to exploit Ava's situation. In prison, Ava is assaulted, highlighting her vulnerability. The season sees Raylan's boss, Art Mullen (Nick Searcy), shot, leading Raylan on a personal quest for revenge. Boyd, in turn, kills Picker (John Kapelos), a Detroit mob man, with a cigarette bomb to prove his loyalty to Wynn Duffy (Jere Burns).

The season culminates in a violent showdown. Ava is released from prison to become an informant for the Marshals against Boyd. Raylan, working with Daryl's sister Wendy Crowe (Alicia Witt), ultimately confronts and kills Daryl Crowe Jr. With the Crowes dealt with, Raylan accepts a transfer to Florida, leaving Ava in a precarious position as an informant against Boyd, setting the stage for the final season.
