Short on time? Here's the essentials:

The world is under alien occupation, and the 2nd Mass, a group of human survivors, fights for survival. Led by historian Tom Mason, they struggle to protect themselves and find a safe haven. Tom's son, Ben, is a key fighter, though his loyalty is tested.

The central conflict revolves around the 2nd Mass's desperate search for safety while evading the alien Overlords and their Skitter soldiers. They face constant attacks and internal strife. A major turning point occurs when Tom is presumed dead after a bridge collapse, only to survive and rejoin the group. Later, Jimmy dies, and Ben is manipulated by the alien Karen, eventually leaving the 2nd Mass to join a Skitter rebellion. The season culminates with the survivors reaching Charleston, only to find it destroyed. Dai is killed in the ensuing chaos, and Hal is revealed to be implanted with a bug by Karen, setting up future conflict.

Season 2 of Falling Skies covers episodes 1-10. Here's everything that happened:

Season 2, Episode 1: Worlds Apart - Three months after Tom Mason joined the aliens, the 2nd Mass continues to fight, now more mobile and hardened. Tom returns, but Ben accidentally shoots him, leading to flashbacks of his torture and a rejected alien offer of a "sanctuary." The episode concludes with Tom reunited with his family, though his loyalty is questioned by some.

Season 2, Episode 2: Shall We Gather at the River - Tom Mason grapples with paranoia after a parasitic creature is removed from his eye, fearing he might be compromised by the aliens. The 2nd Mass must cross a destroyed bridge while under attack. Ben, Hal, Maggie, and Dai destroy a Skitter control structure, allowing passage, but Pope detonates the bridge before Tom can fully cross, leaving him presumed dead. However, Tom survives and rejoins the group as they head to an abandoned airport.

Season 2, Episode 3: Compass - After relocating to an airport hangar, the 2nd Mass faces internal conflict as Pope challenges Tom's leadership. Tragically, Jimmy dies from injuries sustained during a skitter encounter, leaving Ben guilt-ridden. The episode concludes with the 2nd Mass receiving a message from Charleston, offering a new destination and a glimmer of hope.

Season 2, Episode 4: Young Bloods - Hal and Ben encounter a group of "Lost Boys" led by Diego, whose girlfriend is revealed to be Captain Weaver's daughter, Jeanne. When the group is captured by Skitters for harnessing, Weaver's team mounts a rescue. Jeanne chooses to leave with Diego and the other youths, seeking to hide rather than join the main resistance. The episode concludes with the rescue of the captured children from the harnessing facility.

Season 2, Episode 5: Love and Other Acts of Courage - A potential Skitter rebellion is revealed when Tom encounters "Red Eye," a Skitter who claims a faction of his species wishes to ally with humans against the Overlords. This leads to Rick's death after he is shot by a Berserker while trying to protect Red Eye. The episode concludes with Ben revealing to Matt that he must leave for a while, hinting at his growing connection with the rebel Skitters.

Season 2, Episode 6: Homecoming - Karen manipulates Ben into fleeing with her, leaving a wounded Maggie behind. Captain Weaver's life is threatened by a severe infection, leading Tom to take command. Pope warns Tom about Karen's deception, but it's too late as Ben and Karen escape together, with Ben incapacitating Hal to ensure their departure. The episode concludes with the 2nd Mass facing dwindling resources and the uncertainty of Weaver's experimental treatment.

Season 2, Episode 7: Molon Labe - The 2nd Mass escapes a hospital siege by capturing an Overlord, using it as leverage against Karen. Boon is executed by Karen as an example. Trapped in the basement, Anne, Matt, and Lourdes face a new alien threat. The episode concludes with Ben leaving the 2nd Mass to join the Skitter Rebellion, seeking a way to fight the invaders.

Season 2, Episode 8: Death March - The 2nd Mass continues their arduous journey to Charleston, grappling with recent losses. Matt bonds with a harnessed girl named Jenny, while Weaver uncovers details about Tector's military past. The episode concludes with the survivors reaching Charleston, only to find the city in ruins and the bridge leading into it destroyed.

Season 2, Episode 9: The Price of Greatness - The 2nd Mass arrives in Charleston, a seemingly safe haven, only to find its leader, Arthur Manchester, prioritizes hiding over fighting the aliens. Tensions rise as Manchester arrests Tom and Weaver for advocating action, leading to General Bressler launching a coup and arresting Manchester. The episode concludes with Charleston under martial law, a precarious situation for the 2nd Mass.

Season 2, Episode 10: A More Perfect Union - As Charleston falls under military rule, the 2nd Mass aligns with rebel Skitters to destroy an Overlord weapon. Dai is killed during the ensuing chaos. Tom learns Anne is pregnant, and Hal is revealed to be implanted with a bug by Karen, setting up future conflict. The episode concludes with the arrival of new alien pods.
