Season 1997, Episode 1: A Trace of Murder - Cathleen Calvert and her lover, forensics expert Patrick Kinsley, murder investment broker Howard Seltzer, framing Cathleen's wealthy husband, Clifford. Columbo observes Kinsley's familiarity with Cathleen, contradicting their claims. He ultimately exposes their conspiracy by using wedding photos to show cat hair, planted to implicate Clifford, was added post-murder. Columbo then plays the lovers against each other, leading to both their arrests.
