Season 1977, Episode 1: The Bye-bye Sky High I.Q. Murder Case - Genius Oliver Brandt, an embezzler, murders his business partner Bertie Hastings at their high-IQ society when Hastings threatens exposure. Columbo, recognizing Brandt's arrogance, presents a deliberately flawed murder theory. Brandt, insulted, demonstrates the actual crime, inadvertently confessing and leading to his arrest for murder.
Season 1977, Episode 2: Try and Catch Me - Acclaimed mystery writer Abigail Mitchell orchestrates the death by asphyxiation of her nephew-in-law, Edmund Galvin, whom she believes murdered her niece. She traps him in her airtight safe, then establishes an alibi. Columbo uncovers clues left by Galvin, including a torn manuscript page. The episode concludes with Columbo revealing Galvin's dying message: "I was murdered by Abigail Mitchell", leading to her arrest.
