Short on time? Here's the essentials:

Pied Piper, a startup founded by brilliant but awkward coder Richard Hendricks, struggles to find its footing after a scandal. Richard, a visionary who dreams of a decentralized internet, clashes with his team over their video-chat app, PiperChat. He ultimately quits as CEO, giving his algorithm and the Pied Piper brand to his friends, including pragmatic coder Dinesh Chugtai, who becomes the new CEO.

Dinesh's PiperChat gains unexpected popularity but lacks a crucial terms of service, creating a massive legal liability. Rival CEO Gavin Belson acquires PiperChat, absorbing its problems. Richard then discovers Gavin holds the patent for his decentralized internet idea, leading to an unlikely alliance between them. However, Gavin later leaves on a journey of self-exploration, signing over his work rights to Richard. Richard faces further setbacks, including an accidental tryst that jeopardizes a deal and a manipulative tech "it" boy, Keenan Feldspar, who abandons Pied Piper for Hooli.

Despite these challenges, Richard and his team persevere. In a shocking twist, Gilfoyle's smart fridge hack inadvertently creates Pied Piper's new internet, saving the company. Richard confronts Gavin, declaring Pied Piper will devour Hooli.

Season 4 of Silicon Valley covers episodes 1-10. Here's everything that happened:

Season 4, Episode 1: Success Failure - Following Pied Piper's clickfarm scandal, the team struggles to secure funding for their video-chat app, PiperChat. Richard, disliking the app, clashes with Dinesh and Gilfoyle. Richard ultimately quits as CEO, giving the team his algorithm and the Pied Piper brand to pursue his vision of a decentralized internet. Dinesh becomes the new CEO of PiperChat.

Season 4, Episode 2: Terms of Service - Richard clashes with Dinesh, whose PiperChat app gains unexpected popularity, particularly among underage users, but lacks a crucial terms of service agreement. This oversight creates a massive legal liability for Pied Piper, with potential fines reaching billions. Meanwhile, Erlich is duped by Jian-Yang's new app, believing it to be a VR project when it's actually an "octopus" app. The episode concludes with Gavin Belson acquiring PiperChat, absorbing its legal problems, and Dinesh's brief stint as CEO ending in disaster.

Season 4, Episode 3: Intellectual Property - An overtired Richard relentlessly pursues his vision for a new decentralized internet. He discovers that Gavin Belson holds the patent for his core idea, originally conceived by Peter Gregory. Meanwhile, Erlich pressures Jian-Yang, Monica schemes at Raviga, and Big Head becomes a Stanford guest lecturer. The episode concludes with Richard arriving at Gavin Belson's home to confront him about the patent.

Season 4, Episode 4: Teambuilding Exercise - Richard forms an unlikely alliance with Gavin Belson, who reluctantly agrees to help develop Richard's new internet. Meanwhile, Erlich pushes Jian-Yang to improve his "SeeFood" app, which only identifies hot dogs. Jian-Yang later pivots the app into a "dick pic" filter, leading to its acquisition by Periscope. Consequently, Dinesh is tasked with scrubbing explicit images from the internet, much to Gilfoyle's amusement.

Season 4, Episode 5: The Blood Boy - Richard navigates Gavin Belson's eccentric "blood boy," Bryce, eventually exposing him as a fraud. Dinesh, entangled with his hacker girlfriend Mia, rats Mia out to the FBI, leading to her arrest. Meanwhile, Monica uncovers a coup against Laurie at Raviga, prompting Laurie to reveal her plan to leave and start a new venture, inviting Monica to join her. Gavin, disillusioned by Bryce's deception, leaves on a journey of self-exploration, signing over his work rights to Richard.

Season 4, Episode 6: Customer Service - Richard seeks financial support for Pied Piper, leading him to an insurance company where he encounters Dan Melcher, a past rival of Erlich's. Due to a misunderstanding, Richard inadvertently sleeps with Melcher's fiancée, complicating their business deal. Meanwhile, Erlich attempts to find a new venture and impresses VR innovator Keenan Feldspar. The episode concludes with Richard facing the irreversible outcome of his accidental tryst, jeopardizing Pied Piper's potential client.

Season 4, Episode 7: The Patent Troll - Richard confronts a patent troll, initially failing to rally support from other companies. He ultimately outsmarts the troll by faking an older infringement, winning the case. However, the legal fees for his defense exceed the original settlement demand, making his victory financially hollow. Concurrently, Gilfoyle successfully defeats Jian-Yang's intrusive smart fridge, and Jared abandons his aggressive alter ego.

Season 4, Episode 8: The Keenan Vortex - Richard seeks Erlich's help to secure a deal with tech "it" boy Keenan Feldspar after Pied Piper's data traffic surges. Dinesh and Gilfoyle secretly integrate Richard's algorithm into Keenan's VR, leading Keenan to offer an acquisition. Richard learns Keenan is a manipulative "vortex" who exploits companies. Ultimately, Keenan abandons Pied Piper for Hooli, leaving Erlich betrayed and burning his palapa. Richard then plans to use Hooli-Con attendees' phones for Pied Piper's storage.

Season 4, Episode 9: Hooli-Con - Pied Piper infiltrates Hooli-Con to install their app on attendees' phones. Richard's jealousy over an ex's new boyfriend nearly derails the plan, but they succeed. During the HooliVR keynote, the combined stress of the presentation and Pied Piper's app causes numerous phones to explode. Meanwhile, Erlich, convinced he's cursed, departs for Tibet, arriving to Gavin Belson's dismay.

Season 4, Episode 10: Server Error - Richard faces exploding Hooli phones and Jared's resignation as Jack Barker is taken hostage in China, rescued by Gavin Belson, who then abandons Erlich. Richard's server, Anton, is destroyed, but Gilfoyle's smart fridge hack inadvertently creates Pied Piper's new internet, saving the company. Richard, having apologized, confronts Gavin, declaring Pied Piper will devour Hooli.
