Short on time? Here's the essentials:
Sanctuary's second season centers on Dr. Helen Magnus, a brilliant but reclusive scientist who leads the Sanctuary Network, a secret organization protecting supernatural creatures. Her primary concern is her daughter, Ashley, who is transformed into a vampire-hybrid by the villainous Cabal. Magnus also relies on her loyal team, including the resourceful Kate Freelander, a former con artist with Cabal ties, and the knowledgeable scientist Henry.
The season's main conflict involves the Cabal's plan to replicate Ashley's transformation and wage war on humanity. This leads to intense battles and devastating losses, including Ashley's sacrifice to stop the hybrids. Magnus grapples with grief and the potential apocalypse, even experiencing a vision of a ruined future she must prevent. The team faces numerous threats, from rogue superheroes to ancient entities, and uncovers betrayals within their own ranks. A shocking twist reveals Bigfoot is alive, orchestrated by Magnus to expose a mole. The season culminates with a global crisis involving the awakening of a powerful entity, Big Bertha, and Will mysteriously disappearing, leaving Magnus to race against time to save him and avert disaster.
