Short on time? Here's the essentials:

FBI Agent Audrey Parker arrives in the small town of Haven, Maine, to investigate a seemingly routine death, only to discover it's a refuge for people afflicted with supernatural abilities known as "The Troubles." She quickly partners with local Detective Nathan Wuornos, who is immune to the physical sensation of touch, and encounters Duke Crocker, a charming smuggler with a mysterious family history in Haven. Audrey soon finds an old newspaper photo of a woman who looks exactly like her, hinting at a deep personal connection to Haven's mysteries and prompting her to stay and uncover her own past.

As Audrey and Nathan investigate various Troubles, from manifesting nightmares to rapid aging and reanimated taxidermy, Audrey pieces together clues about her identity. She learns of a woman named Lucy Ripley, who also had a significant connection to Haven and its Troubles, and begins to suspect she might be Lucy or somehow linked to her. The investigations often lead them to confront the dangerous and unpredictable nature of the Troubles, which can affect anyone in town.

The season culminates in a shocking revelation about Audrey's true identity and the role of Nathan's adoptive father, Chief Wuornos, in suppressing the Troubles. Chief Wuornos sacrifices himself to save Haven, revealing he has been psychically holding the town together. The season ends with the unsettling arrival of another Audrey Parker, leaving the original Audrey's identity and purpose in Haven shrouded in deeper mystery.

Season 1 of Haven covers episodes 1-13. Here's everything that happened:

Season 1, Episode 1: Welcome to Haven - FBI Agent Audrey Parker arrives in Haven, Maine, to investigate the death of an escaped convict. She soon discovers the town is a refuge for people with supernatural afflictions, known as "Troubles." After nearly dying herself, Parker partners with Detective Nathan Wuornos. She finds an old newspaper photo of a woman who looks identical to her, hinting at a deep personal connection to Haven's mysteries. The episode concludes with Parker deciding to stay in Haven to investigate her own past, leaving her FBI career behind.

Season 1, Episode 2: Butterfly - Audrey and Nathan investigate a bar's destruction and a series of strange events. They discover the incidents are linked to a foster child whose nightmares manifest into reality, leading to the child's parents being trapped in a dream-like state. The episode hints at Haven's history of supernatural occurrences, known as "The Troubles," and Audrey's growing connection to the town.

Season 1, Episode 3: Harmony - Audrey and Nathan investigate a psychiatric hospital where patients were temporarily cured, but their doctor went mad. The affliction begins to spread, causing normal townspeople to become dangerously insane. The doctor is incapacitated, and the town's sanity unravels further as the "trouble" escalates.

Season 1, Episode 4: Consumed - Audrey Parker investigates an epidemic causing rapid spoilage of food and livestock, while also pursuing a lead on her potential mother after seeing a familiar photo in a newspaper. The episode reveals that Duke's friends, who own a local restaurant, are responsible for the outbreak, and Nathan's increasing emotional withdrawal creates a rift between him and Audrey.

Season 1, Episode 5: Ball and Chain - Young men in Haven are found dead, rapidly aged to extreme old age. Audrey and Nathan investigate, discovering the "Trouble" is a woman who seduces men and causes them to age rapidly, giving birth to their children within days. The affliction is reversed when the woman is captured, and the episode concludes with Audrey receiving a necklace from Duke, revealing her past connection to Lucy Ripley.

Season 1, Episode 6: Fur - Local hunters are killed by seemingly reanimated stuffed animals. Audrey and Nathan discover that the taxidermied creatures, including a wolf and a bear, came to life to exact revenge on the hunters who killed them. Ultimately, Piper sacrifices herself to stop the rampage, and the awakened trophies return to their inanimate state.

Season 1, Episode 7: Sketchy - Audrey and Nathan investigate a series of bizarre and violent deaths. A man's body is found impossibly broken, and a real estate agent is gruesomely dismembered. They discover the cause is a young woman named Vickie, whose drawings can manifest physical harm to those depicted. Vickie's drawings are used by Captain Richards to kill people, and when Richards' own drawing falls into water, he drowns. The episode concludes with the resolution of Vickie's predicament and the capture of Richards.

Season 1, Episode 8: Ain't No Sunshine - Audrey and Nathan investigate a series of murders at a hospice, where victims are found stabbed. They discover the killer is a "Dark Man" who uses shadows. Jess Minion leaves Haven, realizing the town is too dangerous. The episode concludes with Nathan experiencing a genuine emotional connection when Audrey kisses him, a moment he can finally feel.

Season 1, Episode 9: As You Were - Audrey's surprise birthday party at a remote island hotel turns sinister when a predatory shape-shifter infiltrates the celebration. The creature assumes the identity of one of the guests, sowing paranoia and distrust as Audrey, Nathan, and Duke race to unmask it before it can kill again. The episode concludes with the shape-shifter being stopped, but the lingering fear and the realization that anyone could be compromised leaves the group unsettled.

Season 1, Episode 10: The Hand You're Dealt - Audrey and Duke investigate a guidance counselor who appears to be causing fiery deaths. The counselor claims she tried to prevent them, revealing that more deaths are imminent. Audrey discovers that the counselor's "gift" is seeing death before it happens, and she is unable to stop it. The episode concludes with the counselor succumbing to her own premonition, dying in a fiery accident.

Season 1, Episode 11: The Trial of Audrey Parker - Audrey's FBI boss, Agent Howard, visits Haven to assess her work, but they become entangled in a heist on Duke's boat orchestrated by two men seeking a smuggled box. Audrey devises a plan to outsmart the thieves, and she ultimately resigns from the FBI to remain in Haven. The episode concludes with Agent Howard and Chief Wuornos revealing they orchestrated events to ensure Audrey stayed, setting the stage for future mysteries.

Season 1, Episode 12: Resurfacing - Audrey and Nathan investigate a fractured family haunted by a mysterious force after a fishing boat, the Fisherman's Honor, washes ashore. It's revealed that the family's deceased father, James Garrick, was involved in a deal with Sal and Nancy Fortuna that led to the boat's demise. James Garrick, a "Troubled" individual, ultimately disappears permanently after revealing a past connection to Lucy Ripley and a scar on Audrey's foot. The episode concludes with Audrey examining her scar, hinting at a deeper connection to Lucy.

Season 1, Episode 13: Spiral - As Max Hansen returns to Haven, Audrey grapples with a shocking revelation about her identity, while Nathan discovers his adoptive father, Chief Wuornos, has been psychically holding the town together. Chief Wuornos sacrifices himself to save Haven, and Nathan finally accepts him as his father. The episode concludes with the arrival of another Audrey Parker, hinting at a deeper mystery.
