Short on time? Here's the essentials:

In "Bates Motel" Season 2, Norman Bates, a troubled teenager, lives with his overprotective mother, Norma, at their motel. Norman is haunted by the death of his teacher, Miss Watson, and struggles with disturbing blackouts. Meanwhile, Norma fights to keep their motel afloat amidst town development and navigates complex family secrets, including the arrival of Dylan's estranged father, Caleb.

The season's central conflict revolves around Norman's escalating mental instability and Norma's desperate attempts to protect him, often by covering up his actions. Key turning points include Bradley killing Gil, Norma revealing Caleb is Dylan's father, and Norman's "Mother" persona emerging, wielding a knife. Norman's blackouts become undeniable, leading to Cody's father falling down the stairs to his death and a significant rift between Norman and Norma after he declares he no longer trusts her. The season culminates with Norman being abducted, his memory of killing Miss Watson resurfacing, and the violent end to the town's drug war with Jodi and Zane both dying.
